Former AshGold striker Yakubu Mohammed says he quit Morrocan powerhouse, Raja Casablanca because of racism.

Yakubu who had his contract mutually terminated last month said he chose to leave because the Morrocans consistently abused him racially.

He left Ghana after the first round of the 2014/15 Ghana Premier League to sign a mega deal with the Moroccan giants but the union wasn't as rosy as it appeared.

“In football, you play where you are needed and respected,” Yakubu told Ghanasoccernet.

“They are racists. That is why I left. They have all the facilities to develop the game but they don’t respect we the blacks.”

“They don’t treat us well and it appears our welfare is not a problem for them,” he added.

Former Kotoko and Medeama striker Nathaniel Asamoah, now with Aduana Stars was the first of three Ghanaian stars to terminate his contract with Raja.

Former Kotoko and Maritzburg defender Awal Mohammed also terminated his a few weeks ago with Yakubu’s being the latest.
