Black Stars defender Rashid Sumaila has pleaded for fans of the national team to come out in their numbers to support the Black Stars in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia.

The Black Stars have had a frosty relationship with the fans after the Brazil 2014 debacle, where players of the team were involved in misconduct.

Ghana are five times Africa Champions and will begin the quest for a sixth trophy with the qualifiers commencing this weekend.

Rashid Sumaila who has been recalled into the team after a 3 year absence says they will need support of the fans to triumph on Sunday.

“We want every Ghanaian to come to the stadium in their numbers and support us, their support is very important to us,” he said.

“Without them we can’t play, they should keep praying for us and we will not disappoint.”

The Black Stars arrived in Kumasi to train ahead of the game on Sunday.

Ghana are in group E together with Sierra Leone, Kenya and Ethiopia.
