Reading boss Stam urges Palace to keep faith with de Boer

Frank de Boer needs patience from Crystal Palace as he looks to get his impose his style of play on team which has lost its first three Premier League games.

That is according to fellow Dutchman and Championship Reading boss Jaap Stam.

De Boer is the odds-on favourite to be the next Premier League manager to depart with Roy Hodgson favourite to be the next boss at Selhurst Park.

Stam worked under De Boer as an assistant coach at Ajax, and the former Manchester United defender knows all too well about the demands within the English game.

"The club (Palace) made a decision to get Frank as manager because of his way of working and how he wanted to play, but as a manager to go to England to work and get success straight away is not easy, I know that," Stam said in an interview with Sky Sports.

"Sometimes, though, as a manager you need to have time as well to build something, to create a certain atmosphere within the group and a certain belief to do well and get results.

"The only thing is - are we patient enough? Do you get the time? And that is not always the case."
