Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos Delighted By Decision to Keep Isco at Bernabeu

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is relieved to see the transfer window shut with teammate Isco still at the Bernabeu after he had been linked with a deadline day move away from the Bernabeu.

Quoted in FourFourTwo, the Los Blancos skipper highlighted the importance of the playmaker in Zinedine Zidane's side despite falling down the pecking order in recent months.

Isco had been linked with both Tottenham Hotspur and a return to former club Malaga in the build up to the final day of the transfer window after James Rodriguez, Marco Asencio, Lucas Vazquez and Mateo Kovacic were all favoured ahead of the 24-year-old.

There was rife speculation that either Rodriguez or Isco would depart the Bernabeu this summer in a bid to reduce the wage bill at the club, however both have remained members of Zidane's team until January at the earliest.

Isco himself did attempt to shut down reports that he would be leaving the Spanish capital, whilst James was reported to be purchasing a property in proximity to Juventus.

The Spaniard insisted "˜I'm staying, I'm staying," when speaking to reporters at a media event at the club's stadium, according to the Metro.

His captain Ramos is delighted with the news, believing that Isco's quality can help the European champions in their quest to be the first side to retain the Champions League, and wrestle back the La Liga title from rivals Barcelona.

"Isco staying at Real Madrid is great news and makes me happy.

"We all know what type of player he is, what he is capable of, and he brings a lot to the team," he went onto add.
