Respect Nyantakyi's decision not to contest in 2019; A former FA Veep tells group calling on Nyantakyi to rescind his decision

A former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association Fred Pappoe wants people to respect the decision by Kwesi Nyantakyi not to seek for re-election in 2019.

Nyantakyi some months ago revealed that he will not seek for re-election when his tenure comes to an end in 2019.

"I think in all these things, what I will say are that we should respect the fact that everybody is entitled to his own opinion," Fred Pappoe told Happy FM.

"So, if Mr Nyantakyi came out sometime ago to say that he wasn’t going to contest, that is his own decision and we ought to respect that, but if he chooses to come back to say he is going to contest, that again is his own opinion. Those opinions should be respected."

Pappoe added, "Whatever anybody says around this is also secondary. But then what I do not want is where people will choose to malign or use rather offensive words or descriptions against people who belong to one school of thought like those for his non-contesting or those for his contesting. Whoever is expressing these opinions should be entitled to it, but we do not need to crossfire and use bad words against one another when it comes to that."

"I do not have any thought on this matter. My thought is that, it is Mr Nyantakyi's personal opinion, he is entitled to that decision, so which ever decision he takes is fine so we must accept it and respect that. He's entitled to that and mind you, 2019 is one full year away and so many things can happen within the year, so whatever decision he's taken as at now, we must learn to respect it," he deduced.

Pappoe occupied several top positions in some time past such as the management chairman of the senior national team, the Black Stars, CHAN team as well as serving on the Executive Committee of the Ghana FA.
