Richard Ofori joins South African side Maritzburg United

Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori has joined South African side Maritzburg United after signing a three-year deal.

What this means is that the former Wa All Stars goalkeeper has swerved South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.

Masandawana recently parted ways with Wayne Sandilands and despite the return of Thela Ngobeni from his loan stint with Free State Stars, indications are that the Chloorkop-based club is still in the market for another shot-stopper.

They made Ofori who is warming himself into the Black Stars number one role their major target.

Ofori has started all three national team matches since the return of Kwesi Appiah as national team coach, most recently the 2-1 away loss to the USA in a friendly.

He also played at the African Nations Cup finals in Gabon earlier this year, turning out in the third-place play-off where Ghana lost 1-0 to Burkina Faso.

Ofori helped WA All Stars to the Ghana Premier League title in 2016, and the year before was named Goalkeeper of the Season in the country.
