Inter manager Roberto Mancini has left the club after a string of poor pre-season results.

The club released a statement confirming the Italian's departure from the club on Monday morning. The statement thanked Mancini for his work at the San Siro side since joining the club in November 2014.

Mancini's future at Inter had been thrown into question since the club was taken over during the summer bySuning Commerce Group. His contract has been a major talking point, and, although it was due to run for another year, Mancini made it clear he didn't want an extension"tied to his performance", according to Gazzetta World.

Tension had been growing between Mancini and the club regarding their transfer window this summer, with Inter's highest profile signings so far this window being Antonio Candreva from Lazio and Ever Banega from Sevilla, and it remains unlikely that these signings will help them improve on last seasons Serie A finish of fourth given their pre-season results.

Inter have been involvedin the International Champions Cup this summer, but have only managed heavy defeats against PSG and Bayern Munich. They did manage to beat Real Salt Lake in July, but they looked all at sea last week against Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham, who defeated Inter 6-1 in Oslo.

Inter will take on Celtic and Borussia Mochengladbach in their final warm-up games, and they could have their new manager officially confirmed by the time those fixtures arrive. The Daily Mail have reportedthat Franck de Boer has already taken over at Inter as their latest manager, with this managerial job being his first outside Holland.
