Roy Hodgson Considering Returning to Management With Championship Side Norwich

Roy Hodgson is considering returning to management with Championship side Norwich, according to theMirror.

Hodgson has been out of work since quitting as England manager last summer when they were embarrassingly beaten by minnows Iceland at Euro 2016.

The 69-year-old had held talks with Leicester regarding their vacancy, but Craig Shakespeare has since been given the job until the end of the season.

Norwich had looked strong favourites to return to the Premier League at the first attempt, but their form in the second half of the season has waned, resulting in manager Alex Neil being dismissed earlier in March.

The Canaries had been eager to speak with Gary Rowett, but the former Birmingham manager has since joined Derby. Hodgson is now considering whether to work with family friend Delia Smith, who is a majority shareholder at Carrow Road, in his first managerial job since leaving the Three Lions.

Mark Warburton, who recently left Rangers under controversial circumstances, had been another candidate to replace Neil, but has instead opted to take over at struggling Nottingham Forest. Alan Pardew is said to be keen on the role, but club officials remain unconvinced as to whether the former Crystal Palace boss would be the right appointment.

Hodgson last managed a league side back in 2012, leading West Brom. He has also coached Liverpool, Fulham and Blackburn, but has little experience of managing in the second tier of English football. He has also held roles at national teams such as Switzerland, Finland and theUnited Arab Emirates.
