Samuel Eto'o: PSG Are a Better 'Team' This Season Without Having to Rely on Zlatan

Ex-Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has suggested that Paris Saint-Germain are actually better 'team' now that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has left the club because the French champions were too reliant on his input in Europe last season.

"PSG had a very good team [last season]. But there were two teams. Paris with Ibra and Paris without Ibra," the Antalyaspor player, who cites PSG as his favourite club, told Telefoot.

Eto'o was famously asked to make way for Zlatan at Barça and was handed over to Inter as part of the club record deal that took the Swede to Camp Nou in 2009

He's not bitter, though, because he refused to question Ibrahimovic's quality as an individual.

"He is a great player," the three-time Champions League winner stated.

"I'm not calling this into question. But it is true that in the Champions League, during difficult games, [PSG] were relying on Ibra too much. So when he wouldn't show up, [PSG] would lose basically. But now PSG have a better team, they play as a team."

Ibrahimovic scored 50 goals for PSG in his final season with the club and secured a second successive domestic treble, but he was unable to drive them beyond the last eight on Europe's biggest stage.

But despite PSG being a better 'team' in Eto'o's eyes, the four-time back-to-back reigning champions are third in the Ligue 1 table behind Monaco and Nice at this moment in time.

They also only managed a second placefinish in their Champions League group after drawing the final two games, including a 2-2 tie against Ludogorets shortly after Eto'o had spoken.
