Sassuolo President Says in No Uncertain Terms That Berardi Won't Be Sold to Inter Milan

Published on: 03 October 2016

Sassuolo president Giorgio Squinzi has ruled out the sale of Domenico Berardi to Inter Milan rather unequivocally.

Berardi has enjoyed a great start to the season, scoring seven goals in six outings for the Italian outfit and turning many heads.

Inter showed interest near the close of the summer transfer window after the player rejected a move to Juventus over concerns regarding playing time, and were linked with a€25m move, but nothing materialised.

They are thought to be readying a January bid, while Tottenham are rumoured to be interested as well. However Squinzi has said that the 22-year-old is not for sale in January and he won't be during the summer either.

Asked about a possible sale to InterbyTuttomercatoweb (H/TFour Four Two), the president replied:"No, absolutely not.

"I can rule out a future sale of the player to Inter. We want to keep hold of him next summer, too."

Also speaking toCalciomercato, he said:We are not going to sell Berardi neither to Inter, nor to any other club.

We are on very good terms with the nerazzurri but we want to keep our best players.

Squinzi has good reason too. Berardi has been out for almost a month having suffered a knee injury, but he's the most productive player at the club.

The forward is the youngest player to reach 40 Serie A goals since the 1994/95 season, and the youngest to dish out 22 assists since 2004/05. He has also won more possession in the final third than any other player in Italy's top flight in 2016, with 21 recoveries.
