Seidu Bancey targets second MTN FA Cup title

Returnee striker Seidu Bancey has targeted a second MTN FA Cup triumph with Kumasi Asante Kotoko when the competition resumes this weekend in the quarter-final stage.

Bancey will be hoping to make his first appearance since re-joining the Porcupine Warriors on a two-year deal last month. The player is confident that his presence can help the hot favourites to see-off Bechem United on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium.

"The MTN FA Cup is very special to me because I will always remember scoring the winning-goal against Inter Allies in the final two years ago," Bancey said yesterday in an interview.

"I have been inactive for one year, so I decided to join my former club to keep-fit and also to help them fight for honours in the league and FA Cup. I have not played a competitive match but I am working hard in training to get to know my teammates so that when the coach gives me the opportunity I will deliver."

Bancey also stated that he has set no personal targets for the second-half of the season, stressing that his main goals was for the team to win trophies.

“I have never set myself targets, I simply play football to the best of my ability," the 26-year-old said.

“Goals are the result of what teammates do on the pitch for each other. As strikers, we are just lucky to score the goals because we work closer to the goal.

“I know the fans are expecting more from me this season as a former club top scorer but I don’t feel under pressure by it."
