Sergio Ramos' Scoring Feats Are Even More Ridiculous When Considering the Value of His La Liga Goals

Published on: 12 March 2017

Sergio Ramos keeps producing the goods at both ends of the pitch, with his latest strike against Real Betis at the weekend securing Real Madrid a win and three vital La Liga points.

As many as 17 of Ramos' last 19 goals in all competitions have been scored when Real were in losing or drawing positions, and very few others have been responsible for directly providing more La Liga points with their goals so far this season.

Ramos, who has now reached double figures in front of goal (all competitions) for the first time in his career and has scored more than 80 for club and country overall, has given Real nine points when he's found the net in the league.

With nine Ballon d'Or awards and over 1,100 career goals between them, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have been responsible for 12 points each in La Liga this season, while golden veteran Aritz Aduriz and Eibar talisman Pedro Leon have provided 11 and 10 points respectively.

Dieron más puntos con sus goles en esta Liga:
12 Cristiano y Messi
11 Aduriz
10 Pedro León
9 Sergio Ramos, Iborra, Gerard Moreno y Raúl Gª

That Ramos, as a centre-back, has proven to be so valuable in something in other than a defensive capacity is quite incredible.

Without the nine extra points he has given them, Real would have 53 instead of 62 and would be playing catch up in the title race behind both Barcelona and Sevilla.

As it stands, Ramos' winner against Betis on Sunday sent Los Blancos back top, ahead of Barça, with a game in hand.
