Seven Hearts of Oak supporters granted bail for Baba Yara Stadium riot

The seven suspected Hearts of Oak fans who were remanded have been granted bail by the Nkawie magistrate court.

In the friendly encounter between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium last Sunday, some fans believed to be advocates of the Phobians ripped 127 chairs and hauled them onto the pitch in protest after their shout for a penalty was waved off by referee Kwame Sefah.

The cost of fixing a seat, according to the National Sports Authority (NSA), is GH¢110 so in total, Hearts of Oak fans destroyed chairs totalling GH¢30,250.

Seven of the supporters were however caught in action are currently in Police Custody and were remanded by Nkawie circuit court but have been granted bail and are to appear in court in September 25, 2018.

Kotoko won the match 2-0 courtesy goals from Obed Owusu and Emmanuel Gyamfi.
