Sky Blues a 'perfect match' for le Fondre

Adam le Fondre has described his move to Sydney FC as the "opportunity of a lifetime".

The former Premier League striker has signed for the Sky Blues on a multi-year deal ahead of the new A-League season.

This is the opportunity of a lifetime for me and I'm very much eager to get started at Sydney FC.

The 31-year-old arrives having spent last season with Bolton Wanderers where he scored seven goals in 36 games.

He's hoping to prove as prolific with Steve Corica's side as he was earlier in his career with the likes of Rochdale, Rotherham United and Reading.

His tally for those three clubs combined was 127 goals in 306 games.

The centre forward has the job of replacing Bobo in leading the Sky Blues front line. That will be a tough act to follow, but he's determined to grab the chance with both hands.

"This is the opportunity of a lifetime for me and I'm very much eager to get started at Sydney FC," said le Fondre. "They are winners with a winning culture and I'm a winner, so I believe it is the perfect match.

"My job is to score goals and I am very confident I can do that at Sydney FC, particularly with the quality players that are already in the squad."

Corica said Le Fondre was a natural goalscorer who was in the prime of his career.

"We already have the quality to provide Adam with the service he thrives on and with one or two more players to come, it is going to be extremely exciting to see what he will produce in Sky Blue," added the coach.

Le Fondre is likely to sit out Sydney's FFA Cup trip to Cairns FC in midweek.

Sydney FC are 4/1 to win the 2019 Grand Final.

The Sky Blues are 6/4 to win their first game of the A-League season against Adelaide, who are 17/10 with the draw 12/5.
