Spain Coach Vincente del Bosque Defends Pedro's Criticism Over Lack of Playing Time

The fallout from Chelsea and Spain winger Pedro'scriticismover his lack of playing time at Euro 2016 has been mixed andvaried, but critically, the former Barcelona man has received the backing of his national managerVincente del Bosque

The 28-year-old has played fewer than 10 minutes for the Spanish national team in their two matches so far at the tournament in France.

Despite a mixed first season in England, Pedro has been involved in Spain's recent tournament successes and perhapswould have expected to have had more of a starting role.

As reported bySky Sports, his manager Vincente del Bosque was quick to absolve the forward of anymisdemeanour, saying:"What he has said, he did not disrespect anyone. I think his conscience got the better of him a little bit and he just showed a reality of what the 12 players who are not playing all feel.

"Pedro was a bit angry he is not playing, that is inevitable and can happen. We try to get on well with everyone and for everybody to be happy and comfortable.

"However, it is inevitable that in certain moments with those 12 players who are not playing there will be a bit of discrepancy, that is what happened and I don't think there is anything more to it than that."

As reported byMarca, Gerard Pique was also quick to leap to the defence of his former club-mate, stating: "This is a normal statement from a player who wants to play more, because players like Pedro have had asignificantcareer and want to continue playing and providing for the team."

However, not everyone has been so charitable. Stoke City player Joselu said over Twitter: "Don't worry, many would play in your role without any problems and be happy!"

No te preocupes que muchos desempeñariamos tu papel sin problema y felices!! 🇪🇸🇪🇸 https://t.co/HaLeP7tQyg
