The Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Asiamah has confirmed that government has approved an amount of $ 8 million for the hosting of the African Women Championship later this year.
Ghana will host the competition for the first time, after placing third in the last edition in Cameroon.
Meanwhile, the Sports Minister, who took turns at the Meet The Press on Tuesday, stated the government is pumping in an amount of $8 million to make sure the country host a successful tournament.
“The Akufo-Addo led government has approved $8 million for the hosting of the Women’s AFCON, and this will include renovation at the Accra Sports Stadium, training pitches at El-Wak, and the Robert Mensah stadium in Cape Coast,” Mr. Asiamah said when he met the press on Tuesday.
“There will be some training pitches being put in good shape for the tournament,” he added.
The Black Queens won the WAFU cup of nations in Cote D'Ivoire a month ago and are expected to win the Championship in Ghana.
