The Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah on Wednesday led a team made up of officials of the Ghana League Clubs Association and the National Sports Authority to present the trophy for Sunday’s President’s Cup match to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia at the Flagstaff House.

The President’s Cup was instituted in 2003 by the Ghana Football Association to honour the President and has since been played every year.

This year’s game is between two of Ghana's most decorated sides Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak .

The game is scheduled to be played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday July 2, 2017 at 3pm.

The Vice President Bawumia urged the players of both teams to view the match as one to honour the nation.

“I expect the match to be as exciting as we have always seen them to be. ‘Ebe ye butubutu’ in a friendly way,” He added.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak have already met twice this season with the Phobians emerging victorious on both occassions at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Hearts won the first game 1-0 which was a league match and followed it up with a 3-1 win in the first leg of the Ghana @60 anniversary match.
