Sports Ministry to name LOC for Africa Women Champions to be staged next year

The Ministry of Youth and Sports are set to name the local organizing committee for the African Women Championship to be hosted by Ghana in 2018.

The competition will be hosted for the first time by Ghana after CAF awarded the country the hosting right following a successful 2016 edition in Cameroon, where the Black Queens placed third.

The ministry is expected to name a Local Organizing Committee on Thursday which will be in charge of the preparation and hosting of the tournament.

The committee will oversee the selection of stadia, training pitches, accommodation and facilitation of a good media program before, during and after the competition.

The Black Queens are a force to reckon with in terms of continental football but have never won the competition before.

But with the hosting of the tournament next year, this could be the opportunity the Queens to win their first Africa Women Champions.
