StarTimes want punitive measures meted out to clubs who impede their work

Broadcast right holders of the Ghana Premier League, StarTimes are calling on the Ghana Football Association to punish clubs that stop them from covering a football game.

Last season, Aduana Stars and Becehem United prevented the digital terrestrial channel from showing some of the games.

The Aduana versus Medeama game and the Bechem United- Olympics games were made unavailable to consumers on television because the Company was stopped from showing the games.

However, Public Relations Officer of StarTimes Eli Kondoh has asked clubs that oppose the telecasting of such games to be punished severely.

“We have complained to the FA to find a way of putting in place strict rules so that in the future these things cannot be repeated,” he told finder sports.

“So we are hoping when they go to Congress, these issues will be addressed and then better measures are put in place so it doesn’t reoccur, he added.

He also mentioned that beginning next season all the matches that will be broadcast in High Definition (HD) with matches been televised on Saturdays and Sundays.

The coverage of matches may increase from two to three matches every week, he revealed to Finder Sports.

The Outside Broadcasting (OB) Van which arrived last month is yet to be cleared from the Tema Port and our sources indicate that it might be used for the upcoming GHALCA G8 tournament in January 2018.
