Tedesco extends Schalke stay

Published on: 12 August 2018

Domenico Tedesco is looking forward to helping Schalke improve further in the future, having signed a contract extension running until the summer of 2022.

The 32-year-old took charge of Die Konigsblauen at the start of last season and enjoyed a superb first campaign at the helm in Gelsenkirchen, guiding Schalke to the runners-up spot in the Bundesliga.

They also reached the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal and head coach Tedesco believes there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic for the near future.

He told his club's official website: "I have always said that I feel completely at home here. I love working with this team, it's so much fun because they are always ready to take the next step so that we can develop ourselves.

"The same goes for the work with the board, the support from the committee and the employees of the club.

"They all motivate us a lot, to play for the fans, who support this club and the team so brilliantly. I am therefore really looking forward to being part of the Royal Blue family for the coming years."

Schalke can be backed at 11/10 to finish in the top four in the Bundesliga next season, while they are 11/2 to finish top of the table if Bayern Munich were omitted.
