Tertiary Football League: UG clinch big win over GTUC in stunning fashion

Published on: 30 October 2017

Tertiary Football League Host University of Ghana (UG) beat Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) 2-1 in a thrilling game that had two goals scored in the final minutes.

The headline game of the round lived up to the billing as both teams traded shots in a pulsating game capped off perfectly with a thrilling end.

Ezekiel Asare of UG scored in the first half to get the host team up and running after a tentative start to the matchup.

With neither team willing to let go its winning run in the competition, the second half was largely characterized by hard fouls and stoppages.

Despite being on the end of a few dodgy referee decisions, Ghana Technology’s vaunted attack struck late s Richmond Adu scored in the 81st minute after guiding a beautiful header across goal into the net.

However, GTUC’s joy was short lived as Wahab Boakye struck in the 86th minute to give UG its second win in three games.

With ties against lower ranked sides like GIMPA coming up, UG’s chances of making it out of the Southern Zone have increased exponentially.

GTUC will have to beat Accra Technical University to stand a chance of progressing to the next stage.
