Leader of Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s CAF Confederations Cup campaign, Alhaji Abu Lamine insists the players of the club are poised to make history by winning the competition after they were promised two bedroom apartments if they succeed.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko will face Club Athletique Rennaissance de Aiglon (CARA) of Congo on Sunday in the preliminary rounds of the CAF Confederations Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors have struggled in recent times to make an impact in continental competitions failing to go past the first round in the last two editions.
However, Chairman Dr. Kwame Kyei has promised the playing body a two bedroom apartment each if they win the confederations Cup and Alhaji Abu Lamine insists the promised has motivated the players to give their best ahead of Sunday’s game.
“Even some former players of the team did get such a package so for the players, this promise has gingered them for the competition,” he told Zylofon FM.
“I believe come what may, Sunday we will be victorious, we will beat CARA so that qualification will be much easier. The players are really poised,” he added.
“The way the management is determined, that’s the same way the players are also determined,” he added.
Meanwhile, several football fans believe the promise is a vague one, and have said it won’t be possible for the team to win the CAF Confederations Cup.
However, Alhaji Abu Lamine says there is so much quality in the Kotoko team and is very confident they can win the CAF Confederations Cup.
“There is a lot of quality in the team, we have experienced and new players and with the likes of Saddick Adams, Jordan Opoku, Obed Owusu and Nafiu Awudu, we have a lot of experience blended with the new guys like Boahen and Gyemfi we can reach the money zone.,” he added.
