WAFA accuse referee Reginald Lathbridge for defeat in Tema

Operations manager of West Africa Football Academy George Ofosuhene has blasted referee Reginal Lathbridge for their defeat to Tema Youth.

WAFA lost the game by a goal to nothing hence relinquishing top spot to Aduana Stars.

The Academy boys felt unfairly treated as they dropped points on the road and according to George Ofosuhene, WAFA could have gotten a point from the game had it not been for the influence of the referee.

"In football I always maintain that until the game is done you cannot declare yourself winner. Look at this unfortunate situation that happened at the Tema Stadium yesterday, the referee (Reginald Lathbridge) was very poor in every sense,’ he told Happy FM.

“Everything he did in the game clearly reflected in the score line. No single infringement came our way. I think winning the league will not come cheap as referees are officiating games like this in the final lap," Ofosuhene added.

A very disappointed George Ofosuhene went on to add the referee’s performance does not qualify for a FIFA’s badge and that his output was a sheer disgrace to the game.

"I'm so much disappointed in him. It was a very bad performance from him, he didn't even know what he was about on the field. How could he performed so badly in this manner as one our best referees, and a FIFA referee for God sake, so I will give him 5% performance rate per what he did yesterday. He just wanted Tema Youth to win the game and he got his wish."

WAFA will head back to Sogakope where they face Accra Great Olympics as they continue with their quest to win the Ghana Premier League for the first time in their history.
