WAFA youngster vows to win goal-king

West Africa Football Academy’s newly-signed star, Daniel Agbloe Adzigodi Lomotey, has vowed to light up the Ghana Premier League by picking the goal-king accolade at the end of the season.

Even though he is yet to score in the two matches he has featured in so far, both as a substitute, Agbloe Lomotey believes there are more games ahead.

The 17-year-old wonder kid, a native of Ada in the Greater Accra Region, moved from Glow Lamp Soccer Academy to WAFA this season and is expected to lead the strike force of the club in the absence of Togolese striker, Komlan Agbegniandan.

The former Denart Soccer Academy of Ada youngster is poised to make a mark for WAFA this season, saying he is happy with his debut season in the club so far.

At the colts level, he emerged top scorer in the 2014 Ada colts league as well as the best player. He was the overall top scorer for his colts club, Denart Soccer Academy, before moving to Glow Lamp Soccer Academy under the mentorship of former Ghanaian international, Nii Odartey Lamptey, in the 2015/2016 season, scoring over 20 goals.

"I am happy to be playing in the Ghana Premier League for the first time; my target is to make a mark this season by scoring lots of goals. My target is to gain enough experience and explode by next season. If my effort is rewarded with a call-up into the national under-20 side it will be a plus," he said.

"My sincere condolences go to the family of the late technical director of WAFA, Coach Sam Arday. I wish he stayed longer so that I would learn a lot more from him. I’ve spent just a few weeks here but I saw his positive contributions," Agbloe Lomotey acknowledged.

"I thank my former director, Nii Odartey Lamptey, for his role in my career, and my uncle, Denart Adzigodi Dennis, as well.” Agbloe Lomotey was speaking after his new side's 2-0 win over Ebusua Dwarfs at the WAFA stadium in Sogakope last Sunday. He came on for Togolese striker and skipper, Komlan Agbegniandan, who picked up an injury in the 83rd minute.

Agbloe also came on as a substitute in their first league game against Medeama at Tarkwa.
