Ghana, Nigeria, Niger and Benin will all be in contention for the cash after progressing to the semi-finals of the competition.

Both Ghana and Nigeria finished first and second respectively in Group A to reach the last 4 whilst Benin and Niger secured the two available slots in Group B.

The four teams will hence battle for the mouthwatering prize money at stake.

Ghana will take on Niger in the first semi-final game on Thursday followed by another clash between Benin and Nigeria.

This year’s WAFU Cup of Nations saw 16 participating teams from West Africa.

Eight teams were however grouped into two after the preliminary matches.

Meanwhile all CAF and WAFU executive committee members including President Ahmad Ahmad are expected to grace the finals of the competition on Sunday.

Ghana are the defending Champions of the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Cup of Nations after winning the last edition when they defeated Senegal in the finals played at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Senegal, who painfully missed out on a place at the semi-finals after finishing third in Group B have been mandated to host the next edition of the competition.

This year’s WAFU competition have attracted several foreign scouts who are currently monitoring in search for talents.

Kotoko Coach Steve Polack as well as Frank Nuttal of Hearts of Oak are all in Cape Coast on a scouting mission with Kotoko reportedly interested in Guinean attacker Seydouba Camara.

Ghanaian duo Vincent Atinga and Winful Cobbinah have all reportedly attracted interest from foreign scouts who have inquired about them.
