WAFU Cup: Ghana defender Amos Frimpong targets Cup glory rather than monetary enticements

Black Stars B defender Amos Frimpong says the team is focused on winning the WAFU Cup, despite the lack of initial monetary incentives.

The Kumasi Asante Kotoko revealed they are more concerned with the opportunities that come with winning the West Africa Football Championship than focusing on bonus.

Earlier this week the ministry of youth and sports announced the team B will not be rewarded with any winning bonuses.

Meanwhile, Frimpong insists the players are not worried with the lack of bunuses as they strive to win the WAFU Cup.

“If we are able to win this competition I think it can move us to a different level so for now we are not thinking about money,” Frimpong said.

Following the victory over Gambia in the preliminary stages, Ghana have been paired in Group A with Mali, Nigeria and Guinea. The defender insists he is ready for the games in the group.

“We were determined not to disappoint Ghanaians so we ensured in win in the first game and we were looking forward to the next game.

The Kotoko defender was impressive in the first game following his marauding runs on the right flank.

Ghana will next face Guinea on Thursday and Amos Frimpong and the rest of the tea will be looking forward to a winning start in the group.
