WAFU Stars Thomas Abbey, Stephen Sarfo and Amos Frimpong contend for SWAG local player of the year

WAFU stars Samuel Sarfo, Thomas Abbey and Amos Frimpong will contest for the local player of the year award at the Sports Writers Association of Ghana awards night. 

The trio were phenomenal for the Black Stars B as Ghana won the West Africa Football Union Championship after beating Nigeria 4-1 in the finals.

Samuel Sarfo, finished the tournaments top scorer with four goals and was instrumental in Berekum Chelsea's season helping them avoid relegation. He score fifteen goals in the season.

Accra Hearts of Oak Captain Thomas Abbey is also in contention for the the award after scoring thirteen times in the Ghana Premier League last season and providing for assist. He was a key member of the Black Stars B playing a crucial role in their success.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko defender Amos Frimpong was also named in the three for the local player of the year award. Frimpong helped Kumasi Asante Kotoko to FA Cup success.
