We lack potent strikers who can finish off chances- Frimpong Manso

Interim Coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Frimpong Manso says the club lacks strikers that can score with the smallest of chances created.

The Porcupine Warriors have found goal scoring a problem this season since the departure of Dauda Mohammed.

Asante Kotoko have scored only 9 goals in the Ghana Premier League despite signing strikers Yakubu Mohammed and Abass Mohammed in addition to Kwame Boateng.

In an interview with the clubs official website, Frimpong Manso bemoans their current predicament.

“Yes, it is. The problem is with our finishing. You saw that we created a lot of chances. We’ve to improve on scoring. The task now is the finishing,” he said.

The veteran tactician has not given up on options indicating the club needs to sign a striker with Richard Arthur of Wa All Stars rumoured to be on his way to the Ghanaian giants.

“We’ve to find someone who can finish well when chances created. We’ve three or four strikers, but they are not the type that can take chances and score even from small openings. They are fighters all right but they lack the potency when it comes to accurate finishing. We need to identify goal scorers urgently.”
