We should concentrate on building facilities to improve youth football- Odartey Lamptey

Former Black Stars player, Nii Odartey Lamptey says he is work by the lack of facilities to help develop young footballers in the country.

The world cup winner at the under 17 level believes the country can benefit from young players if there is a good system of monitoring and developing footballers.

Most often players that do well in youth tournaments fade out due to poor progression system and monitoring.

“We should concentrate on getting facilities. With good facilities they should be able to improve. When we want keep them here without facilities how do they improve?” he said on Asafo 99.1Fm.

“When these boys come back from the world cup, anyone who does not get a team we should monitor him every well. The boys should be monitored and promoted from the under-17 to under 20 and to the under-23. But if there is no facilities and we don’t groom them well that is when we start to say they cheated.”

Ghana is currently doing well at the Africa Junior Championship with most of the players doing very well.
