Ghana winger Frank Acheampong has called on his teammates to remain positive despite missing out on the FIFA World Cup in Russia next summer.

The Black Stars of Ghana failed to qualify for the mundial after placing third in group E of the Africa qualifiers. Egypt picked up the ticket in group E.

However, the Tianjin Teda new signing explained the team must put the disappointment of missing out of the world Cup behind them and concentrate on the AFCON qualifiers.

“It was disappointing, we could not qualify but we must forget about it and move forward,” he told Kasapa FM.“ We just have to look at the way forward, we have the AFCON qualifiers and that is what we must think about now,” he added.

“It was our wish to make it to Russia but unfortunately that couldn’t happen, we must now move ahead.”

Following three successive appearances at the World Cup, the Black Stars have now been left with no option but to concentrate on making it to Cameroon 2019.

Coach Kwesi Appiah has stated he is building a team to win the Africa Cup of nations next two years.

Meanwhile, Frank Acheampong who was part of the team at the Africa Cup of nations at the 2015 and 2017 editions will hope to qualify for the nations cup in Cameroon and win it.

The former Anderlecht winger nearly won the Cup in 2015 but missed one of the penalties that led to the defeat to Ivory Coast.
