Dominating play on their home turn in the early parts of the game, the Academy Boys could have led by two goals but failed to capitalize on the begging chances in the first 30 minutes.

Later in the 40th minute, in-form midfielder Augustine Boakye scored with a fine effort to shoot WAFA SC into the lead as he broke the deadlock of the game.

Unfortunately, the hosts could not hold on to take the lead into the break. A 45th-minute equalizer from youngster Ali Hufaz restored parity for Dreams FC, ensuring that both teams have the chance to win the second half.

Although both teams would push after recess, neither side managed to get on the scoresheet and as a result, the game has ended 1-1 at the end of the 90 minutes at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena.
