20/21 Ghana Premier League: Victor Aidoo nets brace for Hearts of Oak in 6-1 thumping of Bechem Utd

Young striker Victor Aidoo netted a brace on Saturday afternoon to power Hearts of Oak to defeat Bechem United 6-1.

The Phobians hosted the side from Bechem today for a matchday seven encounter of the ongoing 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season.

In an action-packed first half, neither side could find the back of the net and had to go into the break on level pegging.

Unfortunately for Bechem United, they had a man sent off when Emmanuel Asante received a second booking in the 39th minute.

After recess, Hearts of Oak took advantage of the extra man and piled pressure on the opponent to look for the win.

In the 53rd minute, Abdul Manaf Umar scored with a fine effort to give the Phobians the lead.

Now with momentum, the capital-based club pushed on and got the second through a strike from Victor Aidoo.

Five minutes later, the youngster scored again to complete his brace while giving his team a healthy lead.

Later in the 84th minute, Frederick Ansah Botchway added a fourth goal for Hearts of Oak before Bechem United netted a consolation through an equalizer from substitute Prince Adu Kwabena.

In the final minutes, Lawali Mamane and Benjamin Afutu added to the goals to wrap up a 6-1 win for Hearts of Oak against Bechem United.

With today’s win, the Phobians have climbed to second on the Ghana Premier League standings.
