2018 AWCON: Coach Mercy Tagoe eyes a positive start to their campaign

Black Queens assistant coach Mercy Tagoe is eyeing a positive start to their 2018 African Women's Championship campaign.

Ghana will play Algeria in the tournament's opener on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Mercy Tagoe who is advocating for support is looking at beginning the championship on a winning note.

"It is good to start well and that is what we are looking and hoping for," she told Joy FM

"We have been preparing all this while and our dream and target is first to qualify for the World Cup after which we will think of winning the tournament.

"We need the fans in the stadium on Saturday because they will play a key part in our quest of starting the tournament on a good note."

Ghana after participating in the competition on so many occasions will be hoping to win their first trophy on home soil.

The Black Queens are in Group A with Cameroon, Mali and Algeria.
