Former West African Football Academy (WAFA) SC Majeed Ashimeru has been handed his first official senior national team call-up for the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia.

Coach Kwesi Appiah has named the Red Bull Salzburg-owned player in his 2o-man squad ahead of the AFCON qualifier in Addis Ababa next week.

He has been handed another opportunity to earn his first Black Stars call-up.

Ashimeru, who previously featured for Ghana Premier League side WAFA, was drafted from the Local Black Stars to train with the senior national team in June 2017 for the international friendlies against Mexico and USA.

However, the youngster was omitted from the final squad and he did not travel with the team to the States for the friendlies.

Majeed has been a driving force and the pivot for his Swiss Super League side.

The 21-year-old midfielder has featured in 12 league matches scoring once and his debut goal was in the Cup match.
