2019 Afcon: Trabzonspor striker Caleb Ekuban believes only hard work will take him to tourney

Ghana and Trabzonspor striker Caleb Ansah Ekuban says hard work at his club side will earn him a place in coach Kwesi Appiah's 23-man squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The 24-year-old hitman revealed he is ready to cement his position at the Black Stars ahead of the competition in June.

Ekuban marked his debut appearance with a goal as Ghana defeated Kenya 1-0 in their final 2019 Afcon qualifier at Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.

“I don’t think that the coach can decide in 30 minutes that I am good enough to be in the team that is going to the Afcon,” he said after the game.

“I try my best at club level and will continue to work hard. If I do well, I will go [to the tournament] but if I don’t, unfortunately, I will not make it.”

The 32nd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will be staged in Egypt between June 7th to 30th for the first time.
