2019 AYC: Ghana beat Burkina Faso 2-0 in group B opener

The Black Satellites defeated Burkina Faso 2-0 to record their first win the ongoing African Youth Championship in Niger on Monday.

Ghana, who had their game postponed from Sunday to Monday due to floodlight issues paraded a strong side to face Burkina Faso in the group B opener.

Satellites commenced the game with power of dominating the midfield in the first quarter of the game, however, they failed to go past the stubborn defence of the Burkinabes.

Daniel Lomotey finally broke the deadlock in the 39th minute to put the three times winners of the U-20 African Youth Championship in the lead after waiting for several seconds to watch the ball cross the line after hitting the woodwork.

The Satellites defence line despite lacking cohesion had to fight stronger to curtail the sharp front of the Burkinabes to hold onto their lead.

Coach Jimmy lads effort at goal had no aggression in the second department of the game though they maintained their lead.

Goalkeeper Nuruden Manaf on the 59th minute denied Burkina Faso a goal with a superb save.

Daniel Lomotey doubled his side's lead in the 76th minute, counting on a defensive error by the central defender and the goalkeeper.

Ghana are currently at the summit of the table with three points.
