2019 WAFU Cup: Ghana set to open campaign against Gambia Today

The Ghana Black Stars B team is set to open their campaign in the 2019 WAFU Cup of Nations tournament later today against their counterpart from Gambia.

Head coach for the side, Maxwell Konadu is optimistic of leading his charges to a second consecutive win after clinching the title back in 2017 when it was hosted on home soil.

This year’s edition of the tournament which features national teams made up of players plying their trade in their respective local leagues is being hosted by Senegal and will feature a total of 16 teams.

Ghana needs to beat Gambia at the preliminary stage to ensure she secures qualification to the next stage which will take the format of a group stage.

The match comes off later this evening at 17:00GMT.

Midfielders: Benjamin Afutu, James Akaminko, Latif Anabila, Emmanuel Gyamfi, Augustine Okrah, Appiah McCarthy, Justice Blay
