2021/22 Ghana Premier League matchday 18: WAFA SC v King Faisal preview

Published on: 25 February 2022

The Ghana Premier League season continues this weekend with all 18 participating clubs scheduled to be in action.

The 2021/22 Ghanaian top-flight league campaign saw its first round come to its official conclusion just last Sunday when Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko cleared the matchday seven outstanding game at the Accra Sports Stadium.

With no time to spare, the Ghana FA has paved way for the second round of the league season to commence this weekend.

Today, WAFA SC is been slated to host King Faisal for the first match of the week.

The team from Sogakope in the first round struggled to compete and as a result, had to battle relegation in some weeks.

Now hoping to turn things around, WAFA SC is determined to amass as many points as possible to climb to safety on the Ghana Premier League table.

The opponent, King Faisal performed outstandingly well in the first round of the league season. As a result, the team at a point led the league log.

Unfortunately, a dip in form has meant that the club is no longer favourites for the league title unless it puts together a spell of fantastic winning run.

This afternoon, both WAFA SC and King Faisal are expected to aim for victory when they lock horns at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope.

Last time out:

During the first meeting between the two teams in the first round, King Faisal carried the day as the team secured a narrow 1-0 win at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Predicted scoreline:

WAFA SC 1-0 King Faisal

Kick off:

Today’s clash between the Ghana Premier League sides is scheduled to kick off at 15:00GMT.
