2021/22 GHPL: Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh rues missed chances in RTU draw

Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh has lamented his side's profligacy in front of goal as they were held to a 2-2 draw against RTU on Wednesday.

Frank Mbella shot the Porcupine Warriors into the lead in the 48th minute but his opener was cancelled by David Abagna on 71 minutes.

Ibrahim Imoro scaled a long-range shot a whisker of the post, Frank Etuoga had a close-range shot blocked as George Mfegue saw a goal-bound shot graze the side net.

"I am not disappointed", Prosper Narteh told reporters after the game. "We played well, we created a lot of chances which we could have scored but football is a game of chances. When you take your chances and solidify the middle of the field and protect your goal, but out of nothing they scored and that is the nature of the game."

"In terms of performance, we are doing well. We are creating a lot of chances but we are not taking our chances and that is the unfortunate aspect."

The result meant that the Porcupines, after winning their first four games of the season, have gone three games without a win, drawing twice and losing once.

"We would have won all the games that we drew and also lost if we took our chances", explained Prosper Narteh.

"We missed the services of influential players Isaac Oppong, Mudasiru Salifu, Samuel Boateng, and Andrews Appau, but Prosper Narteh thought their absence did not affect the result.

"Looking at the game we played, we didn’t miss them. Of course, they would have added something to the team but we didn’t miss them."
