Ashantigold put an end to their three-game winless streak after clinching a 1-0 victory over Great Olympics at the Len Clay Sports stadium on Sunday.
Ashantigold were struggling in the league before this game, having won just once in their last five (W1 D2 L2). Olympics, in comparison, had won two (W2 D1 L2).
In the first half, both sides created opportunities to find the net but none of them were able to break the deadlock.
The second half was a bit different with AshantiGold creating dangerous opportunities.
They got a penalty in the 55th minute and Stephen Banahene stepped up to convert. He made no mistake from the spot, giving the hosts the lead.
They were able to hold on to the victory afterwards. AshantiGold are now 9th on the log with 34 points and Great Olympics are 5th with 40 points.
