AshantiGold got their campaign off to a flat start by recording a 2-2 draw with Karela United at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.

The Miners had an early scare following Karela's opener inside five minutes. Diawisie Taylor got the goal for the away team.

AshantiGold forged ahead after the goal and were rewarded with an equalizer. Appiah McCarthy levelled things up in the 23rd minute.

The captain of the home team, Hans Kwofie completed the comeback with his goal just before half time.

At the start of the second half, Karela showed promise and got the equalizer. Samuel Owusu latched unto a brilliant through pass and slotted it into the bottom corner with ease.
