New Legon Cities signing, Asamoah Gyan believes his decision to return to the Ghana Premier League will encourage other veterans outside the country to return home.

The 34-year-old has signed a one year deal to return home after 17 years.

“Me being in the Ghanaian league will bring the league global exposure.

"Since I signed for Legon Cities it’s been everywhere and everyone is talking about the team and what the league will be like.

"There are a lot of players who want to come back home to play but we have not seen it yet.

"I know there are a lot of players outside who are eager to play but someone has to set the pace.

Gyan is still working his way back to fitness and thus will miss the opening game of the season for Legon Cities when the Ghana Premier League resume.

Legon Cities will begin their season with a home game against Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium.
