The much-anticipated fixture of the opening weekend between 2016/17 Champions Aduana Stars and 2020/21 champions Hearts of Oak will be played at the Nana Agyemang Badu Stadium on Sunday.

Aduana Stars will be hoping to have a flying start to the domestic top-flight campaign as they seek to make an impact this season.

The fire boys finished 11th position last season and will hope to change the narrative under new trainer Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin.

With a blend of experienced and young players, the two-time league champions expect to prove a point this season having secured the services of some established players from the league including Justuce Torsutsey and Anokye Badu from WAFA and Berekum Chelsea respectively.

Striker Justuce Torsutsey, who joined from WAFA in the just-ended window has been tipped to give Aduana the firepower upfront in the absence of Yahaya Mohammed. Anokye Badu will also be key for the Dormaa-based club.

Paa Kwesi Fabin outfit has won two, drawn one, and lost one in their last four meetings with Hearts of Oak.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak who finished sixth last season will begin the campaign with the aim of winning the title again after failing to defend the title.

The Phobians could be a force to reckon with considering their squad depth going into the new season.

In form striker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, the only local player to make the Black Stars squad for friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua is expected to light up Dormaa on Sunday with his dazzling skills and surging runs.

He poses threat to the Aduana Stars defenders looking at his goal-scoring ratio for Hearts and the Black Galaxies.

The 2021/22 MTN FA Cup champions were busy on the transfer market securing the services of players from the African continent including Junior Kaaba, Yassan Outching and Linda Mtange Don, and others.

The newly signed players including Junior Kaaba have fit in well, scoring goals during preseason friendly games and are expected to transform it into the season.

Despite losing Sulley Muntari, the Phobians looks strong ahead of the league and Confederations Cup campaigns.

Hearts of Oak will hope to change the narrative in Dormaa having faltered in their last two games against Aduana Stars.

Predicted scoreline: Aduana Stars 1-2 Hearts of Oak

Though Hearts of Oak have faltered to Aduana Stars in their last two games in Dormaa, they are expected to change the narrative looking at their squad depth.

The Phobians can boast of a solid team ahead of the new season following the acquisition of tough defender Konadu Yiadom, and other top strikers from the continent.

The availability of Afriyie Barnieh, who is at his peak could propel the Phobians to victory.
