2022/23 Ghana Premier League matchday 2: Accra Lions beat Karela 2-1 to record first win

Accra Lions have picked their first three points of the new Ghana Premier League season after defeating Karela United 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

After suffering opening day defeat, Accra Lions went into today’s game focused and with a lot of fighting spirit from the start of the first half.

Just 24 minutes into the game, the efforts of the team paid off when Samuel Gymiah equalized to give the team the lead.

Three minutes later, Accra Lions had the better of Karela United again. This time around it was Daniel Kwame Awuni who was on the end of a very good chance. He scored with a fine effort to give his team a two-goal lead to take into the first-half break.

Despite the improved efforts of Karela United in the second half, the team only managed to net a consolation goal through a strike from Enock Agblenyo.

The win today has seen Accra Lions climb out of the bottom of the league table to the 9th spot.
