2022/23 Ghana Premier League Week 18: Match Report – Accra Lions 1-1 Kotoku Royals

Accra Lions' matchday 18 encounter with Kotoku Royals ended 1-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Accra Sports Stadium. 

A minute silence was observed for the late Christian Atsu. Accra Lions striker Simpara then got the game started.

The home side started the game very well dominating the early minutes. Samari pulled a great save from the Kotoku Royals goal after a nice inter-play from the left in the 10th minute.

Attacker Apiiga almost broke the deadlock for Accra Lions but his effort did not enter the net in the 30th minute.

The visitors scored first in the 32nd minute. Francis Kumi headed home after a cross from the right.

After halftime, Accra Lions made one change Solomon Oppong replaced Daniel Awuni.

In the 58th minute, the home again made a double change Seidu Bassit and Remember Boateng replaced Youssouf Simpara and Ibrahim Issa.

The home side equalized late into the game, Abass Samari scored from the penalty spot.

Accra Lions is 4th on the league table with 28 points and Kotoku Royals remains bottom with 11 points.

Accra Lions will play Karela United while Kotoku Royals will take on Dreams FC.
