2022/23 Ghana Premier League Week 20: Hearts of Oak v Asante Kotoko preview

Published on: 03 March 2023

The biggest Ghana Premier League game on the Ghanaian football calendar will come off this weekend.

A Super Clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko has made the Accra Sports Stadium the venue of attraction on Sunday, March 5.

The two most glamourous clubs are in the race for the Ghana Premier League title but must win this weekend’s encounter to close in on Aduana Stars, the team on top of the league table.

Form Guide:

In the first leg meeting of this clash, Hearts of Oak came from behind to draw 1-1 against Asante Kotoko.

For the reverse fixture, the Phobians are set to play host to the Porcupine Warriors. Ahead of the game, all is not well in the camp of the capital-based club.

Following a series of bad results, fans on Friday stormed the training grounds of the club to sack head coach Slavko Matic.

With three defeats, one draw, and a single win in the last five matches, Hearts of Oak have dropped out of the top four of the Ghana Premier League standings.

For Asante Kotoko, the team is second on the league table and just five points behind Aduana Stars.

Despite losing two games in the last five matches, the reds also have two wins and look to have picked up form.

Predicted scoreline:

Due to the fact that things are not well between fans and the team, it is unlikely Hearts of Oak will pick a win.

Asante Kotoko goes into the fixture as the better side and could easily run riot over the hosts.

Hearts of Oak 0-2 Asante Kotoko.
