2022 AWCON qualifiers: Black Queens are poised for a convincing win against Nigeria - Portia Boakye

Black Queens captain Portia Boakye is confident her side will beat Nigeria in the 2nd leg of the 2022 African Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifiers.

The Super Falcons clinched a 2-0 home win over Ghana in the first leg of their first-round qualifying tie on Wednesday.

The aggregate winners of the 22 first-round ties will reach the second round of qualifying, which will decide the 11 nations joining hosts Morocco at next year's finals.

"On behalf of my teammates, I will say thank you. We thought you left us out after the defeat in Nigeria but coming here this evening has encouraged us more and all I want to say is that tomorrow we won’t let you down," Boakye said as quoted by Ghanafa.org.

"We are poised for a convincing win just as they did to us in their country."

The Black Queens will take on Super Falcons of Nigeria at 4:00pm at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 24, for the second leg encounter of the on-going 2022 AWCON qualifiers.
