Ghana, who made a return to the tournament for the first time since 2014 opened their campaign with a 1-0 defeat against the debutants.

However, Annor Walker and his charges fought back to record a 3-1 win against Sudan in their second group game.

According to Dr Aubynn, the playing body was left disappointed following the defeat but added that Ghana always starts major tournaments on a poor note.

“Everybody, including the playing body, were disappointed with the first match result but the team made amends and successfully recovered, overcoming a very determined Sudanese side," he told Graphic Sports.

“Don’t forget that it’s been a historical behaviour of our national teams to start slowly.

"You remember Ghana in Angola 2010; in spite of the rugged start, we went to the final,” he recalled.

The Black Galaxies will know their opponent for the quarterfinal game scheduled on Saturday.
