2022 WAFU Zone B U17 Championship: Ghana beats Ivory Coast 3-2 to win bronze

The Ghana U17 team has finished the 2022 WAFU Zone B U17 Championship with a bronze medal following a spirited 3-2 comeback win against the Ivory Coast U17 team on Friday afternoon.

Nicknamed the Black Starlets, the national team of Ghana started the tournament a couple of weeks ago with the ambition to at least get to the finals to secure qualification to the African U17 Championship.

Unfortunately, that did not happen for the side after losing to Burkina Faso by a goal to nil in the semifinals.

Today, the Black Starlets locked horns with their Ivorian counterpart at the Cape Coast Stadium to fight for a third-place finish.

Although Ghana conceded very early after giving away a penalty kick, the players of the host nation put up a spirited fight that saw the team come from behind to secure victory.

On the matchday, goals from Rashid Abdul Adam, Richard Apokum, and Abdul Razak Salifu did the trick for the Black Stars to clinch bronze at the end of the day.

Later this evening, Nigeria will take on Burkina Faso in the finals of the 2022 WAFU Zone B U17 Championship.
