The former Liberty Professionals and Sunderland striker last played for the national team during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] in Egypt where the team exited at the Round of 16.

Gyan, who has been clubless for two years now speaking to the BBC shockingly revealed that he is aiming to play in the global showpiece with the Black Stars later this year.

Despite his achievement and records with the national team, Gyan was slammed and criticized for his desire to play in Qatar.

However, Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe, who is a former Ghana Football Association [GFA] chairman believes that Gyan must be able to match the training tempo to earn a call-up.

According to him, the former Al Ain forward must train hard to earn a call-up to the Black Stars.

"If he [Asamoah Gyan] can train with the present team and the coach finds him fit, he should be invited because I strongly believe if he can match the tempo at training and the physique, he should be able to play.," he told the Graphic Sports.

Gyan played over a decade at the Black Stars and remains the country's all-time top goalscorer with 51 goals. He was part of Ghana's squad that qualified the country for its maiden World Cup in Germany in 2006.
